Ivory Coast will host Ghana,Liberia,Senegal,Mali and Benin on September 27th,2012 in the West African Football Federations Union Zone B tournament for women. This
competition will take place in Abidjan at the Robert Champroux Marcory
Stadium and will feature six nations divided into two pools of three teams. At the draw which took place on Thursday September 13th, the opening match will feature the host nation Ivory Coast against Liberia on September 27th.
The general secretary of the West Africa Football Federations Union,Mr. Aka Malan, announced that the trophy for the tournament will be called the Dominique Ouattara Cup,named after First Lady of the Ivory Coast.He further stated that CFA20 million has been provided as price money for the tournament a break down of which is as follows-CFA10 million for the winning team, CFA 7 million for the semi finalist and CFA 3 million for the third place team.
The Secretary General stated that this tournament will mark the beginning of the activities lined up for women's soccer in the region.He added that two other tournaments are planned for the U-20s in November in Ghana and the club championship version in
December to be played in Ouagadougou.
Among the six countries participating in the tournament, Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire will participate at the African Women Championship to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea in October.
