“We are ready for South Africa and we just want to assure the nation that we will do our very best to qualify. We don’t fear anyone because we have prepared well,” Zambia national women’s team coach Enala Simbeye Phiri has declared. Speaking to FAZ facebook and www.fazfootball.com Phiri said his girls were looking forward to Saturday.
“Let the people come in numbers and see a good game. It’s a good time for us and with the right application of what we have been doing in training, we shall get a good and positive result,” she said.
The Zambia women’s team, now popularly known as She-polopolo, play their South African counterparts Banyana Banyana in the first leg of the final round of qualification for the 2012 African Women championship. Football House announced on Tuesday that all gate charges had been waived and that entry would therefore be free for all. However the VIP will attract a charge of K50, 000.
The South African team is expected to arrive in Lusaka Thursday evening.
And the Football Association of Zambia is pleased with the show of support for the women’s national team by the government and spouses of senior government officials. We are particularly pleased with the latest call by the Ministers’ Spouses Association (MSA) for a massive turn out at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
We would therefore like to commend MSA chairperson Charlotte Scott, Republican Vice President’s wife, for her call to all fans and the general public to heed the call by FAZ to fill Nkoloma stadium on Saturday 26th May.
