Banyana Banyana Step Up Olympics Preparation As Portia Modise Gets A Recall

Banyana Banyana national head coach Joseph Mkhonza has included three uncapped players and has recalled former captain,Portia Modise to join a 24-strong squad that will train at the Stellenbosch University Sports Performance Institute (SUSPI), Western Cape from Thursday, 12 April 2012.

The national camp is a continuation of the team’s preparations for their first appearance at the Olympics Games, to be held in London in July.

The national camp will run through to April 21, with goalkeeper Viwe Mpeta (Kovsies FC, Sasol League Free State) and midfielder Leah Sethunya (Maluti Ladies, Sasol League Free State) both having got call-ups. These players were identified by the national coaches at the Sasol League Road Show held in Welkom on March 17.

The other rookie invited is midfielder Jade Davids, who plays her club football for Galaxy FC in the Sasol League KwaZulu Natal.
