AAG News-Zimbabwe bows to Ghana,South Africa Draws with Tanzania

Ghana continued to impress when they beat Zimbabwe by 2 goals to 1 in a highly competitive and entertaining game played at the Machava Stadium  in Maputo. Zimbabwe took the lead in the 40th minute of the first half  when a disorganized Ghanaian defense failed to clear their lines and in effect allowing Zimbabwe an easy goal.

Back from the break,Ghana stepped up their game with some sweet flowing soccer, but had to wait until the 70th minute to even out the score. With time running out, both teams continued to create problems for each other until Zimbabwe finally gave up after 91 minutes of play when Ghana added the winning goal to put the score at 2-1thereby clinching the maximum points.

The game between South Africa and Tanzania took a different turn when Tanzania held free scoring South Africa to a goal less drawn first half, much to the amazement of the sparse crowd of South African supporters. Tanzania put up a spirited performance to foil all dangerous attacks launched by the fast paced South Africans.
Three minutes into the second half,South Africa broke the dead lock, but the stunned Tanzanians were back in  the game when they equalized on the 55th minute mark through Mwanahamisi Shuruwa. South Africa capitalized on  the defensive lapses of the Tanzanians to add another goal to their tally in the 75th minute, hoping to seal the deal, but their joy was short lived on the 76th minute when a goal by Tanzania's Zena Khamis evened out the score to 2-2. South Africa  sits second with Ghana topping  group A.
South Africa will lock horns with Ghana on the 11th of September whiles Tanzania battles Zimbabwe  on the same date. The game between South Africa and Ghana has been dubbed the match to watch since it promises to be a cracker between two of the best teams in the tournament.
