The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has given the green-light for three African teams at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
This follows the decision to increase the number of participants to 24, eight more than the previous 16.
FIFA took the decision at a recent meeting of its Executive Committee.
By this, the top three teams at the Africa Women’s Championship (AWC) to be held in 2014 in Namibia will represent the continent at the women’s version of the Mundial.
It will be the first time Africa will be parading three teams at the tournament since its inception in 1991.
