Ghana’s Black Maidens conquest at the 2012
FIFA U-17 World Women’s Cup has been rewarded with their nomination for
the Women’s National Team of the Year in Africa.
The Maidens have
been penciled for the honour by the Confederation of African Football
(CAF), and faces stiff opposition from reigning African champions
Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
The list was
revealed by the continental soccer governing body on Tuesday, among the
final batch of categories for the 2012 CAF Awards Gala.
The
Ghanaian team made history at the global championship held in
Azerbaijan, by placing third, the best ever by an African side in the
history of the championship.
The winner will be made public at the Awards Gala to be held on December 20, at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra.
