Ghana Edges Closer to U-20 World Cup Berth

Ghana's women's U-20 beat their South African opponents by 3-0 in Accra on Saturday to bag a 5-0 goal aggregate in the FIFA U-20  world cup qualifiers. The Ghanaians dazzled their teeming fans with a spectacular display of the Ghanaian brand of breathtaking display of soccer.

Ghana went ahead by a goal before the break with a goal by Pricilla Saahene as the South Africans found no answer to the constant barrage of the Ghanaian attack spear headed by Elizabeth Addo.Back from the break,Ghana continued with their incessant pressure on the South African defense which led to a penalty kick ably converted by Elizabeth Addo.

South Africa's Basetsana struggled through out the game and so with no surprise whatsoever,Ghana's Janet Ayenim capitalized on the fragile South Africa defense to add the 3rd goal of the day by way of a spectacular header,which sealed the deal for Ghana as they advance to the final stage of the qualifiers.


Nigeria also beat Zimbabwe by 3-0 in Sunday's encounter with goals coming from Ebere Orji,Desire Oparanozie and Esther Sunday to advance to the last stage alongside Ghana who would have to win against Tunisia to clinch a place at Japan 2012, whiles Nigeria are likely to beat either DR Congo or Mali to  grab the final ticket to Japan.The World Cup takes place from August 18th to September 9th,2012 in Japan.
