Nigeria U-17 Expected In Kenya,South Africa's Bantwana arrive in Namibia

Nigeria’s U 17 women emplaned for Nairobi on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s clash against Kenya’s Harambee Starlets at Nyayo National Stadium.


The Flamingos who have played in two previous U-17 finals reached the quarterfinals in the 2010 tournament played in Trinidad and Tobago.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) disclosed that preparations of the match are already under way adding that security issues have been addressed. Tickets will be retailing at Ksh100 for the main entrance (VIP) and Ksh50 for the terraces.


"We want a large crowd to turn up to support the young girls in their quest of reaching the Women World U 17 finals to be held in Azerbaijan this year," said Elly Mukolwe who is in charge of Technical matters at the Federation.




The Under/17 Women’s National squad has arrived in Namibia ahead of the first leg of the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier to be played in Windhoek on Saturday, 21 January 2012. The squad departed for Namibia this morning.

The match kicks off at 16h00.

The FIFA U/17 Women’s World Cup is set to be staged in Azerbaijan from 22 September – 13 October later this year.

Bantwana concluded their preparations at the University of Johannesburg Sports Grounds on Wednesday.

Head coach, Gregory Mashilo said the team had prepared well for the qualifiers. The team successfully underwent scientific testing to ensure that it performs at its best. 

“We concluded preparations in Johannesburg yesterday; we have done our best in terms of preparing for the match against Namibia. We focused on all elements of training such as building and strengthening the physical element of the team to ensure we come up with a positive result at the weekend,” said Mashilo.

Mashilo said he was aware the match against Namibia would not be an easy game.

“The players are feeling motivated and this examination outside the country would test our resolve of playing away from our comfort zone,” added Mashilo.

The return-leg is scheduled for the weekend of 3-5 February 2012.

The South Africans are expected back in the country on Sunday. Bantwana squad for Namibia:
