Kenya-Super 8 Women's Football Teams Fight For Final Slots
The inaugural edition of the Super Eight Women Football Tournament enters the second weekend this Sunday as over 64 women football teams take on each other to find-out who will represent their constituency in the finals of the tournament.
The Super 8 Women edition is organized by extreme sports as a pilot project and will soon be spreading out to the rest of the Country. The tournament attracted a huge crowd of fans last week during its launch in Westlands, with nominated member of parliament Hon. Rachel Shebesh being among the guests.
This weekend will see the respective teams in each constituency playing in the quarter finals to find the teams which will play the second stage of the tournament, whereby all the 8 winners from each of the constituencies in Nairobi will fight it out for the main prize at the end of the month.
Extreme Sports who are the organizers of both the men’s edition and now the newly introduced female championship have been organizing Super 8 football tournaments over the past few years and with the introduction of the women edition, football standards are set to improve all round.
